THE BEACON
You've been in my life
Like a beacon of light
Where to turn for direction
In the dark of night
In the storms and the trials
Your light has shown through
And in all situations
Shown me what to do
I've made some mistakes
I'll quickly admit
But mother, you've shown me
To press on and not quit
A beacon is light
A direction for hope
But only the ship
Can choose which way to go
I hope that at some point
I'll somehow repay
The love that you've shown me
Each step of the way
Without your support
And your guidance and light
I'd have fallen astray
A ship lost in the night
