I LONG FOR THE DAY
I long for the day
You are here with me
I long to be holding
You near to me
To feel your warm hand
Surrounding my finger
To stare into your eyes
Get lost and linger
I dream of the day
I can show the whole world
This precious new child
Be it a boy or a girl
Amazed as you suckle
My milk-swollen breast
Relaxing together
No worries, no stress
I long for the day
Oh yes, it is true
But we're now so much closer
Just me and you
You turned my womb into
Your nest and your home
And there's never a day now
That I'm all alone
We're sharing a special
Communion, us two
That nothing can conquer
It's all me and you
Maybe I'm not really
Sure if I want
To share with the world
This treasure I've got
But I promise you now
Even just at the start
I'll hold you forever
Inside of my heart.
