If what you are is darkness
then I will gladly live lost
in it
in its thickets and thorns
in the midnight blue
you cast over my black cherry
red purple skies
these are the colors that turned
a friendship into twisted
turned
kind-of-love
kind-of-marriage
kind-of-sex
almosts and nearlys
and kind ofs
your darkness was velvet
mine was casket satin
now yours is wool and
mine is chiffon, the light is there now
but diffused
if what we were was darkness
then I am confused
cause there in the purple-blue
lights of the walls
I saw everything,
even your face
