My top 10 comeback yearnings

What are your top ten comeback yearnings for 2008? Ask yourself and ninety-nine other people this question and you will probably come up with a list which reflects how much we have in common as humans, even though the order of priorities may differ from person to person. You may want to make yourself a list of your own before you read any further so that you can make a comparison.

Sadly, we do not live in a perfect world and some of the yearnings listed cannot technically be referred to as comebacks as they have so far eluded us. This does not make them any less important to hope for. Some are general whilst others are more specific but perhaps the greatest value of completing this task is to encourage a positive look to the future and an opportunity to think about how things can be improved.

Let's take a look at the top five wider yearnings. Here's a list for you to consider:-

World Peace: Diverse opinion as to whether wars are ever justifiable makes this a more controversial topic than might be expected. What can be done to end war? How can communication between the aggressor and the aggrieved be improved? Can a war even make the world a safer place to live?

Healthy Living: Despite the fact that we are bombarded by information about health issues and the importance of a healthy lifestyle too many of us continue to put our lives at risk. What are the top tips for staying healthy? How can we turn back the tide of premature deaths?

Equality of Opportunity: Equality of opportunity diminishes as the gap between the rich and the poor widens. Let us hope that politicians come to the forefront prepared to tackle this issue and ensure that Human Rights campaigners have not suffered in vain.

Effective Education: Closely connected to the item above, we must ensure that education on offer is the best it can be and that the needs of young people are properly met in our schools. Are the standards in our schools today better than they were in the past? Are we really reaping the benefits of technological advancements and greater understanding of how humans think and learn or have we slipped backwards in the quality of education?

Moral Conscience: Too many reports of fraudulent behavior pervade. How can we expect citizens to comply with the law when our role models demonstrate corrupt behavior? How can we see a return to morality?

Now let's consider the top five more personal yearnings. See if you agree with them.

Happiness: To be happy is a hope for all of us. This means different
