There are diaper bags, and then there are diaper bags...va-va-voom! However, as attractive as a very expensive diaper bag might seem (one that is the Mercedes Benz of diaper bags), I'd highly recommend you sticking to stylish, but functional. So, how do you achieve that?

Well, some diaper bags cost less than $20.00 and can truly be quite an adorable part of your trip to the store or Grandma's. Just make sure you understand that a functional diaper bag is an 'essential' quality, when seeking that all important necessity. Notice I didn't say it was an 'optional' accessory, right? That's because diaper bags are not optional. If you happen to be a parent of a previous newborn, you already know they are considered 'required' items! Allow me to repeat that for those who might have missed the revelation: Diaper bags are 'REQUIRED' items!

You might be asking yourself how I could possibly know. Well, my background includes working in a daycare for several years; a pre-school for a few more; a public school for at least 5 yrs, not to mention giving birth to 5 children and becoming a grandmother of three. There, does that qualify me as enough of an expert? If it doesn't, I'm permanently giving up diaper changing!

So, how do you find the perfect diaper bag for you? Well, I had to recall that little obstacle not that long ago, when I was searching for...yet, another diaper bag, for my newest grandchild. Each bag has it's own design that could easily suit your fancy, as you will quickly find out when you hit the isle that sports them. Naturally, they come in all sorts of colors which can easily match your car, your outfit or even your child's outfit...if you really wanted to go that route (most parents won't, I'm sure). The options, today, are quite varied, to say the least, and since you pretty much have carte blanche on what they look like, you could very easily find yourself bewildered, as you aimlessly walk down the aisle. Oh, which way do I go, George?

Since you mainly want to stick to a functional diaper bag, as I suggested above, I'd highly recommend you first take note of all the things you might carry in one. You're going to need: diapers, baby wipes, extra clothing, a diaper pad, breast pads, a portable breast pump (if you're nursing), bottles, thin baby blanket, baby brushes, spit up rags, what I lovingly term as 'bo-bo's' (pacifiers), ointments, food and toys. Whew, and to think I said that in one breath. ;)

Therefore, you should seek one that has a plastic lining
