JUST A GOOD OL' BOY
I had to register all my guns and tear down my favorite flag.
I better not say which one its bound to make some people mad.
I had to fence my own backyard and license my old hound.
I had to hide my union card to get a job in my own town.
Well, I'm proud to be an American.
I feel blessed to be from the South.
But, my neighbors say I talk funny.
Now what's that all about?
They won't let me burn my trash anymore.
but you can set "Old Glory" ablaze?
It sure is hard to be just a Good Ol' Boy these days.
Hmm hmm hmm
The other night I was told go when I lit up in a bar.
Next they'll tell me I can't smoke in my house or my own car
Some people say that it just ain't right the way I discipline my own child.
But they're first to say that he's polite while their kids go running wild.
Well, I'm proud to be an American
I feel blessed to be from the South
But where's my freedom of speech when they say,
Boy, you better watch your mouth!
You can bet I won't apologize
for the way that I was raised
But its sure getting tough to be just a Good Ol' Boy these days
Hmm hmm hmm
And now they want to take God out of the Pledge.
And heaven help my kid if he prays.
it sure is hard to be just a Good Ol' Boy these days.
its getting tougher to be just a Good Ol' Boy these days.
Its impossible to be a Good Ol' Boy these days.
Especially these days.
