Guitar Hero tips and tricks

How to Improve at Guitar hero

Your at your friends party and the moment you have been dreading has finally arrived. It is your turn to pick up that plastic guitar and pretend to be a rock star. There's just one problem though, you can barely play on easy. This guide will lead you down the path to being a Guitar Hero master.

1. When you start playing, don't start on the Easy difficulty. Easy is just that: way too easy. This difficulty will not help you get better and won't help you develop many of the essential skills needed to become great at Guitar Hero such as pinky strength, hammer-ons, and off-beat strumming. Start with the medium difficulty instead, and even though you may fail the first few times, you will get better at a much faster rate.

2. Hold down the fret buttons. This may sound silly, but this is the number one misconception that beginners have, is that you have to tap the individual fret button every time you strum. Try holding down whatever color you see coming up and then strumming. You will realize this very quickly when you have long passages of the same note.

3. For Hard and Expert, use your index finger for the top two notes. Using your weak and small pinky finger for the last two notes can be very straining, and using you much stronger and larger index finger for the top two is a much better alternative.

4. Use your Star-Power. When playing songs that are a little over your head, it is still possible to pull them out without failing at the last minute as long as you deploy your Star-Power at the correct time. Star-Power doubles your multiplier and also makes you health gauge increase much faster for every hit note, rescuing you from flashing red to in the green safe zone.

5. Play songs that you know. This is more for the sake of your own embarrassment. When you fail, saying that you had never heard the song before is a poor excuse, when there is bound to be at least a few songs that you have heard somewhere before. Knowing the layout of the song will help you know when to deploy your Star-Power, as well as the difficulty of the guitar part.

If you can master these five steps, you will be rocking out with the best of them in no time at all.
