Personal transformation: The extreme makeover guide

Extreme makeover, a guide. So many humans today are obsessed or even overly concerned with their appearances. This is our culture, our way of life. We all want to look good for ourselves, for our mates, for our jobs, for strangers even. Taking the route of an "extreme makeover" is a big commitment in a small amount of time. People don't think too much if you style your hair differently, or add a new item or two to your wardrobe. They may not even notice the 5 pounds that you lost, but an extreme makeover is sure to catch the eye! Here is a guide to what items you may address in your extreme makeover:

Your body shape. Do you want to loose weight? Do you need to tone up? Were you hoping to get back the pre pregnancy belly? This is the first step that should be taken in an extreme makeover, as it effects all the other aspects of the makeover. Loose your weight first. For most this will mean a diet and exercise ritual. For others it will mean a tummy tuck or lipo. Which ever way you go, begin with this.

Your wardrobe. Once you have achieved the body that you want, or are on your way, take a look at your wardrobe. What image are you trying to get across. Are you a new mom who wants to be her pre-baby self again? Are you midlife and want to look younger? Are you starting a new profession and want to reflect that in your life? Now go to your closet and take everything out. Only leave a few important items in there. Everyone needs a pair of jeans, sweater, button down shirt, simple skirt and simple dress. You can add more items to finish off your look. Most importantly if you are going for a professional look, remove the "unprofessional" items. If you want to be premommy, take out all the over sized or maternity clothes that you still hide in. Make a list of what you need, and go shopping.

Your hair. Take a look at your hair. Do you want it to be long so it can be pulled back, or left down to be flirty? Do you want something simple, get out of the shower and run after the kids? Do you want something simple, professional? Or maybe something totally new to you! Get ideas of cuts and colors, take them with you to your appointment, explain the look you are going for and have fun!

Your makeup. Take out all the makeup you have, and similar to your closet, keep only the basics. If you are going professional, get rid of the glitter eye gel. To be prebaby, you may need to add some items, and to be professional, just tone down what you have. Get rid of anything old, or that you havent used in a while. Make a list and go shopping. Explain to the assistant and the counter what you are looking for, they should be able to help!

Your face and teeth. Do you want a tan? Whiter teeth? To loose the lines around your eyes? Each item requires a different treatment, however again, make a list of what you want to do, and go for it! You can try at home remedies, or go for the purchase of professional help. Either way make sure you keep track of your progress, and stop when appropriate for you. You don't want to turn into leather trying to get a tan.

Last, your attitude. You need to change how you look, if that makes you happy. But looking professional and being professional are two different things. Looks will get you pretty far today, but if you can't hold up your end of the bargain they will get you no where. If you want to look younger, make sure that you adjust your "old" attitude to reflect the new changes you have made.

Have fun! Most of the things listed above can be done on an at-home budget and over time, or you can do a dramatic professional make over, it may cost you more but the time line will be dramatically reduced and the results almost instant.
