Like any other service, every abortion provider must think in terms of profit if it is to remain able to provide its service. Money and profit are facts of life everywhere, and at every time in history. History, by the way, is not exclusively a past-tense thing; history is an ongoing thing. History is being made by every one of us - including you - right now. Everything you do or don't do contributes to 'history' some way.

In the Traditional Way of my People, and I believe, in the Traditional Ways of every ITI Nation, children are generally regarded as sacred gifts. That's what my People's word for children means.. HOWEVER, that doesn't mean that if a woman decided - or decides today - she wants to end a pregnancy, that there were any strictures against it. In the Traditional Way of my People, because a woman is the only one who can become pregnant, and she cannot take even an instant of 'vacation' from being pregnant, nor can any other person carry her pregnancy for her for even an instant, she automatically earns the Right to decide this, without any interference from anyone else.

In my People's Way, it is the height of rudeness and disrespect to try to tell a woman what she 'may' or 'may not' do with her body, including especially when she is pregnant. Even less would anyone think they somehow had any right to invade her privacy in this way.

Back in the Pony Drag days, abortion was practiced in times of famine, in times of war, and if the mother decided she had reason to end a pregnancy. A common reason was that she or the family she was a wife in couldn't provide for any more children, and for whatever reason, pregnancy had occurred despite efforts to prevent it.

Before the coming of missionaries and their incessant meddling and efforts to destroy our Traditional Ways, we practiced birth control and pregnancy prevention in a number of ways.

Abstinence while we focussed on the quality of each child as it grew to adulthood was one. Our entire culture was oriented to valuing work and skill and quality, and that included humans as much as any other aspect. We also used various herbs to prevent pregnancy. (Similarly, we used herbs to cause abortion while protecting the health of the woman, so she didn't bleed to death.) And so on.

Today, much of the knowledge of the needed herbs has been lost, due to slaughter of our people, especially our healers, both spiritual and herbal. The term 'medicine man' or 'medicine woman'
