American culture has lagged behind world culture, somewhat, in its acceptance of nose piercing. In Indian cultures, for example, nose rings are traditionally worn by women. If a woman wears a ring in the left nostril, it is believed to make her childbirth easier.
A need for fresh vibrant energy in the workforce, and a growing population of retiring Baby Boomers has forced the nation's corporations and federal agencies to rethink traditional policies.
No longer can the working world afford to turn away an able-bodied qualified applicant who wears a nose ring. To do so would place our workforce in a crisis.
And after all, a worker with a nose piercing is still a worker.
