The case for civil rights for minors

not go far enough! It did not tell the elected legislative assembly to enact new laws to further advance the rights and privileges of our unruly, disrespectful, bullying, under- aged thugs!

Why would UNICEF infringe on Canadian sovereignty? What is UNICEF, anyway? One would think that the six-letter acronym stands for something long and complicated. Cursory enquiries would inform that it stands for United Nations Children's Fund. Should its acronym not be UNCF then?

Further inquiries revealed that, back in the year of 1946, which was the second year of the United Nations (UN) as a self-serving bureaucracy, also the final year of its predecessor, the failed League of Nations, the UN invented the United Nations International Emergency Children's Fund. Its mandate, if it can be called that, was to meet the emergency needs of children in post-war Europe and China!

UNICEF must have been so successful in protecting the children of China that, in 1950, it was empowered with also advancing the cause of women in developing countries! Women in developing countries do you understand that?

The question arises; was Canada classed as a developing country in 1950? Did the Mulroney-government think of Canada, as if it were a developing country in 1992, when Canada ratified this bogus UN convention?

The more one looks at the issue, the more convoluted it gets.

Granted, it is easy to criticize but it is difficult to offer solutions, some say. So, let's look at some of the possible solutions to our youth problems.

A single-parent family (the term is a misnomer) usually consist of a single woman and one or more children. What is missing in that arrangement is the authority figure, the biological father, a man! Children of such arrangements are more prone to become delinquents, because discipline, sometimes reinforced with spanking, is missing from their young lives. All the disciplinary actions coming from a father are character forming and serve as deterrent, balanced of course with love and affection. Also, let's give back the teachers the right for disciplining unruly students!

Bullying could best be eradicated if the Government had the will to annul the Young Offenders Act. If under-age offenders cannot be tried in adult court, not even for indictable offences, make their parents liable, to the full extent of the law, for their children's action! If under-age bullies cannot be deterred, deter the parents.

Furthermore, those parents' name, age, and residence address should be publicized at the time of their child's arrest and again on conviction!

Abolish the School Boards! Establish instead a Federal Ministry of Education. It then should set up a Canadian curriculum, from grade schools to colleges and universities that would be used countrywide. It would standardize education and result in better-educated graduates.

Does it all make sense?
