Product reviews: Brilliant Brunette Shine Release shampoo

My hair is naturally dark brown. In fact it is so dark that it has been mistaken for black. My hair is also extremely straight. For those of you who think straight hair is automatically shiny and frizz free, you can take it from me that is not the case. People with my kind of hair needs help to keep the frizz at bay.

I am always on the look out for new products that will make my hair look great with very little work. I do not blow dry or style my hair so anything I buy needs to be wash and go. I was intrigued when I saw the John Frieda Brilliant Brunette product line, but was a bit apprehensive at the price of $6.50 for an 8.45 ounce tube.

Since I am budget conscious I decided to wait until I could try a sample before I committed myself to a whole tube of the product. I searched online and found a product sample I could order and then waited patiently for my sample to arrive. I received a .28 ounce sample of John Frieda's Brilliant Brunette Shine Release Moisturizing Shampoo for hair color in shades of Chestnut to Espresso and the matching conditioner.

This shampoo is thick with a translucent amber color. It has a subtle lingering scent that contains hints of chocolate, caramel, and honey. The sample was a little much for one shampoo, but not enough for two. It produced a thick, rich lather that was easy to rinse out. I followed the shampoo with the conditioner.

The shampoo and conditioner left my hair easy to comb out. When my hair had air dried I brushed it out again and was amazed by the results. My hair felt softer than it had in a long time and there was minimal frizz. The product claims to "amplify the multi-dimensional richness of brown hair while magnifying highlights." While I did not notice this, I did notice that my hair was much shinier than usual.

Based on my experience with the sample of John Frieda's Brilliant Brunette Shine Release Moisturizing Shampoo I did go out and buy the shampoo and conditioner. It wasn't after very many uses that I began to notice that the product really did "amplify the multi-dimensional richness of brown hair while magnifying highlights." I began to see auburn highlights in my hair and people began to notice that something was different.

Now, I still have dark brown hair, but with my natural highlights being amplified it is no longer mistaken for black. This shampoo has defined the tones in my hair while making it silky soft and adding an incredible shine. I definitely recommend this shampoo for anyone who wants to bring out the brunette in their hair.
