For someone who "has it all," and can buy it if they do not, give a very personal gift. Create and plan something that she cannot go out and buy herself. Give him an experience that involves you and your friends-something that is much more fun, or only possible, with friends. Some ideas for weary gift givers:
A Custom-Tailored Shirt
For men or women, a custom-tailored shirt is the ultimate luxury, and can be found for $100 or less. Shopping for well-fitting attire can be next to impossible, so take the frustration on of the process. Check the internet, and your local phone book for tailors. They do still exist!
Lunch with the Ladies, Beers with Buddies
Arrange to take your lucky duck (person who has it all) out for a civilized mid-day lunch at a pretty and pretentious, roses on the table, attentive and good-looking wait staff sort of place. Bring a little favor, like a tiny box of gourmet, locally made chocolates. For guys, secure "permission" from the ladies and head out for happy hour, shooting pool and beer at your local hang-out.
A Personal Assistant
If your friend has everything but time, give the gift of a personal assistant for a certain number of hours. The assistant can run errands, entertain children, and cook, freeing up time, which the person who has it all may be short on.
A Green Plant
A pothos or peace lily, delivered, while seemingly generic, is actually not. It is nearly impossible to kill either of these plants, and every house can benefit from greenery. Include a gift card to a local shop specializing in swanky containers, and your gift is complete.
A Personal Chef for the Evening
Hire a chef to prepare a romantic meal at home for your recipient. Send over flowers to complete the mood. Offer to babysit the kids at your house to ensure peace and quiet.
For those who can afford to purchase anything they want, the best gift is something creative and thoughtful, rather than expensive and commercial. No matter your friend's tastes, income or "have it all status," a unique and personal, creative and thoughtful gift will always be appreciated.
