HANDYMAN SERVICES

My mother in law recently suffered a stroke and my father in law cannot manage pushing around a heavy lawn mower anymore. Locate in your local paper or using a service that provides lawn mowing or other services, pay for them to come and tend to the garden every couple of months.

SITES AND FEATURES IN YOUR CITY

Attending our local zoo, aquarium or museum can be very expensive. Even when on a pensioner discount the cost can be astronomical. Purchase a year's membership or subscription to special events so they can be visited over time.

We also have a dinner tram that operates in the even which can have long waiting lists to experience. Give the elderly person a new experience by having a three-course meal on a dinner tram or other such attraction your city or town may offer.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT TICKET

My father in law has had his love and joy of his vehicle being taken off of him recently. It was a sad day, but his reflexes have deteriorated unfortunately.
Why not purchase a yearly ticket for public transport services? Now they can catch the bus, train and tram anywhere within our city at any time.

FAMILY DINNER OR BRUNCH DATES

There is nothing better than devoting some time and energy into our elderly. Before it's too late and regrets inevitably happen, make a regular date for example once a month or once every six weeks that you all go and enjoy a dinner or lunch somewhere. It can be at a family members home or at a restaurant that caters for get togethers. This is a great family tradition that many people should do, not just with our elderly members of family.

Now that I refuse to give the same old boring gifts of slippers, pajamas and nighties, the above gifts are bound to keep my elderly busy for a long time. No longer will my mother in law wave me off with just another request for slippers, she'll be upgrading her requests from all other members of the family. Either that or our presents would be considered the best!
