Saratoga Grill

Tonight I meet a man at the Saratoga Grill.
Don't know much about him but by dessert I probably will.
My friends all say, "This ain't no way to meet a guy!"
But they're all married or getting married by and by.

I knew when he said hello and when I saw him smile.
I wanted this evening to go on for quite a while.
My friends all say, "This ain't no way to meet a guy!"

But they're all married or getting married by and by.

The night was cool. The moon was full. We took a walk.
We ended up at his pickup truck. We sat and talked.
My friends all say, "This ain't no way to meet a guy!"
But they're all married or getting married by and by.

We drove to a smoky club to hear a local band.
We danced the slow songs, then sat just holding hands.
My friends all say, "This ain't no way to meet a guy!"
But they're all married or getting married by and by.

He reached across the table, surprised me with a kiss.
my heart skipped a beat or two, reacting to the bliss.
My friends all say, "This ain't no way to meet a guy!"

The night just flew. Before we knew it was almost four.
One last kiss and then he drove me right up to my door.
My friends all say, "This ain't no way to meet a guy!"
But they're all married or getting married by and by.

Five years have gone since the Saratoga Grill.
I wondered then where it could lead. I guess, I'm wondering still.
My friends all warned me, "This ain't no way to meet a guy!"
Now, they're all married or getting married by and by.

Yes, they're all married...
or getting married...
by and by.
