Gift ideas for the elderly

one side is a place for a photo and on the other side is a place for a child to make and decorate their hand print. As a final touch, the child can record a personal message to the person. This is a perfect gift for grandchildren to give to their grandparents.

For the Elderly Couple

Romance still exists among elderly couples. Send them a gourmet dinner through the mail. These gourmet meals come packed in dry ice and can be frozen until used. You can order an entire package that comes complete with an appetizer, bread, soup, the main course, a desert, and mood music. These items only take about 10 to 15 minutes to heat up. You can separately get them a couple of candles to complete their romantic evening.

For the Elderly Living Alone

Two main things come to mind when I think about the elderly living alone: companionship and safety. It would be nice if they had both.

A lot of elderly no longer have pets. If you know that they love animals, but just can't physically care for them anymore, you can get them the unique gift of a life-like interactive stuffed animal. They make them so realistic that you can see the pet "breath". They don't have to walk it, feed it, or clean up after it, but it still provides them with companionship.

Safety is a big concern for the elderly, especially if they live alone. Even if they're in good health, there are all sorts of events that could occur that could be potentially dangerous. The fact that they live alone means that if something happened, no one would be able to help them or would know what was going on. There are different types of emergency alert systems on the market and some of them can be quite pricey. You can give a joint gift with one or two more individuals and get one of these emergency alert systems. For other family members that want to participate in giving this gift, they can pay for a month of service. If you have enough people pitch in, you can have a full year's service on the device that's prepaid.

For the Elderly Woman

Women of all ages enjoy flowers. Buy her favorite flowers or buy her a pretty plant. She'll love it!

For Everyone

The elderly love freshly baked goods. Who doesn't? Bake them a pie or a cake or make fudge or homemade bread.

Nice toiletries are also good gifts for the elderly. Skin sensitive, but pleasant smelling lotions for the woman, or a great smelling aftershave for a man.

Just Be Thoughtful

To summarize, be thoughtful and think about his or her personality as you're choosing the appropriate gift. If you put thought into it, they are guaranteed to love it.
