Well, I sorta borrowed Daddy's pickup truck
Thought he wouldn't mind, and with any luck
It'd be back in the shed 'fore he even know'd it was gone
I drove to my cousin Micky's house
Everybody here just calls him Mouse
I think I gave him that name when he was one.
The moonshine we loaded up in the back
Rattled when we drove 'cross the railroad track
But we used an old tarp to keep it hidden from the law
We took the tractor road to Grandpa's farm
And stashed the moonshine in his ol' barn
Under some hay and behind the red Farmall.
Somethin' just didn't feel quite right
A dog was howling in the night
And the voice in my head was warning me of doom.
Tonight someone's gonna go through hell
Someone else is going to jail,
And someone will need a ride to the 'mergency room.
We grabbed a jar or two for luck.
And jumped back into Daddy's pickup truck.
Then headed back down the dusty gravel road.
Back on the blacktop and started to fly.
'Til we saw a car at the city limit sign.
Looked like Jimmy in his old broke down Ford.
He looked real nervous till he saw who we was.
He laughed when he saw we were kinda buzzed.
Then he paused and I could tell, yep he was thinking.
We said "hop on in", he said "wait just a minute."
"There's stuff in my trunk, I'll show ya what's in it.
But first let me have a taste of the 'shine you're drinking."
Somethin' here just didn't feel right
Jimmy's taillights was flickering bright
And the voice in my head was still warning of doom.
Tonight someone's gonna go through hell
Someone else is going to jail,
And someone will need a ride to the 'mergency room.
Jimmy got real buzzed then opened his trunk.
He showed us Fireworks and some other junk.
I'm thinking his taillight probably had a short.
I guess it was a spark what lit the fireworks there
Jimmy burned his hand, lost eyebrow hair
Those Sparklers were sputterin' just like a welding torch
You shoulda heard Jimmy screaming like a girl
When one of them fireworks started to twirl
And took to chasing him like it had a mind of its own
Me and Mouse just lost it right there
Especially when we saw the sparks in his hair
And just as quickly everything just kinda wound down.
I'da paid a hundred bucks to see that sight
But somethin' still didn't feel quite right
And the voice in my head was practically screaming "DOOM!"
Tonight someone's gonna go through hell
Someone else is going to jail,
And someone will need a ride to the 'mergency room.
Well, Mouse had just finished the Red Cross course
So he treated Jimmy's hand before it got worse
And poured some moonshine
