What qualifies a man as dating potential?

We all have our own ideas about the perfect man. Some like them a little chubby, some like them long and lean. Most of us love when they're attractive, but really dig a great personality. Maybe you love the tall, dark and handsome type and others, well Can we say Matthew McConaughey? Yes, ladies, we all have our ideal man and that's what helps to ensure that the population keeps growing, but all too often, we don't find our lovelies floating around in ponds, so we look, all over, for someone that is "suitable for dating."

No matter the kind of guy you like, there are a few basics that can help you to find someone who you really connect with and can (hopefully) count on growing a relationship with. Just a couple of rules can really keep you from wasting your time and energy on someone who's just not worth it.

If you're just looking for someone to have a good time with and not looking for something that could turn serious, go for the good time guy. Okay, so you're risking no calls for weeks at a time and you'll probably have a few dates where you're nothing more than arm candy, but these guys are usually pretty good looking and definitely fun. They are the life of the party, but not much more. Sorry guys for bashing you, but you're just not ready for a relationship and, well, hopefully, neither are your girlfriends.

That said, there are a ton of really fantastic guys out there that are just waiting to meet you. The key is to find them and know them when you see them. This is not to say that you should pick out the dopey guy who stands in the corner and picks his nose. Unfortunately, he was not ready to be let out into society, but, do you see the kind of cute one standing over there laughing with his friends? Maybe he's the one you want to meet.

First of all, you have to find out if you're attracted to him. In some situations, it's easy to think you're attracted to him, when all that's really happening is that you're flattered that he's making eye contact (this is where I tell you that you need to make sure he's making eye contact with you in the first place because there is nothing more embarrassing than thinking he's making eyes at you when he's actually looking at the gorgeous brunette behind you). Does he look approachable? Does he approach you? Is he flat out trying to pick you up? You're not looking for a stuttering fool, but it's nice to see that he hasn't memorized some line.

How interested does he seem? Is he talking to you and asking questions about you,
