Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get. I love these words that came from the movie 'Forrest Gump'. If you don't agree with them, just take a look at my life and you will see the proof. I have gotten surprise after surprise, rarely do things work out as I anticipated.
Life is a precious gift, and it pains me to see so many people wasting it. Life is not an over-sized sweater your grandma knit you that you only have to show appreciation for when she comes over for a visit. Every day is an incredible experience, take the time to look at it and be thankful.
The negative always comes with the positive, every cloud has a silver lining. When you are in search of your cloud's silver lining, just remember you aren't the only one whose life is overcast that day. Riding the bus, the person next to you could look fine, but be dying inside because their mother just died. The man who owns the bakery down the street might be planning on proposing to his girlfriend who will end up saying no. It also works the other way, you have blessings and little miracles in your life and so does everyone else. It could be going into remission from cancer, getting married, traveling the world or something as simple as perfecting your favorite pasta dish.In the end, the world does not revolve around you, so pay attention to the people around you.
I have cancer. I am twenty and going into my eighth year of it. As I have grown and developed into the woman I am, I have learned many things about life. I have learned how to deal with the ups and the downs, how to help the people around me deal and how to put things into perspective.
Because of my experiences, I know I can relate to a wide range of people. When you have knowledge about things that can help others, why would you selfishly hold that to yourself? My pledge to humanity is to take the difficult things I have done and seen and use them to help those people who could benefit from what I have learned. When you see someone who is struggling emotionally because their father left, or they are ill or someone in their family is in trouble, if you can help why wouldn't you?
At times you need to look past the end of your nose and focus on someone else for awhile. We are all smart people and need to look out for one another. If everyone did that, maybe there would be less depression, less loneliness. Someone always cares, someone always knows better. But we don't always get to meet that person.
