Personally I love realty shows on VH1. Rock of Love II, I love New York, and Flavor of Love even if they aren't real I still find them funny and interesting. I watched Celebrity Rehab for the first time this past weekend and I felt a little disturbed for these people. I don't know how they can put themselves out there on national television and talk about there addictions. The program is also only eight weeks long I don't know how anyone especially Jeff can get even close to recovering in that short period of time. Some of that show just doesn't make sense.
After I watched the episode I realized that a couple people on the show had done at least, two other realty shows for VH1. Bridget has been on the Surreal Life and a show with Flavor Flav. Baldwin and Jeff Conway have done the surreal life. They are really making their way up the realty pole.
Struggling with addiction is hard and I do believe that many of these people probably do have an addiction. Many people involved with television, music, and/or movies do have a problem with drugs and/or alcohol. Then I was thinking the people on all of these shows are (sorry if I offend) dead beat actors, models, or musicians. How can somebody go on a show and let the world see them struggle with this disease. Another theory that I have is that even if they do have a problem they are that desperate to go on television to recover and maybe get a deal with an up and coming movie because they know now that I am clean again.
The public knows every move that most celebrities make. There is rehab, parties, weddings, new babies and so on but how does it make it right to subject most of these people to recover on television. If they are on the show then obviously they agreed to it but if they are recovering from an addiction I am sure that most moments will not be pleasant and they will regret having some of this done. Television stations are running out of ideas and using the addiction of celebrities to keep their station going. I guess that it show business for you, benefiting from other peoples disabilities to make money.
