How should we lead our children to God

One way to lead our children to God is to be the reflection of Christ we are supposed to be. If we are a reflection of Him, our children will follow. Reading God's Word is a vital part of our role as a parent, if our children see us doing it, they will in return follow our steps.

Most children will follow the lead of their parents, just as we should follow the lead of Christ. However, we aren't perfect, our children need to see that too; they need to understand that you don't have to be perfect to be a Christian. At the same time, when we fail God, our children need to know how to repent and ask for forgiveness. Setting the example of who we want them to be is a strong indication of who they will be. Once the seed is planted, God will allow it to grow and as our children approach adulthood, the seed that we planted as parents will be the stepping stones for their children to follow.

As the leaders of our household, we should never allow our children to participate in things that are not of God, if we allow these actions within our home - they too will see no harm in allowing them in theirs. God gives us our children, He expects us to raise them in the way that will lead to a life of eternal hope, He did not give us our children to allow them to live their life without Him in it. We must set the example of what God would want them to be on a daily basis.

We need to ask ourselves, "If I were babysitting for God, how would He want me to handle this situation?" at any given time, the answer will be there. God will never lead you to something without the ability to get through it.

Praying with your child is also a vital step in setting an example; your child must know that you are not ashamed to get down on your knees and talk to your Father. Praying with your child during trials and tribulations will allow them to know that you trust in God to provide the answer, and that your faith in God is real. Going to God in prayer is our way of communication with Him, we must allow our children to see that we communicate daily with God. If we want to lead our children to God, we must first allow our children to see God living in us.
