When we're faced with buying that perfect gift for that hard to buy for person, some of us will throw our arms up in the air, and shrug our shoulders in frustration. There are also those of us who look helplessly toward the heavens expecting an answer to drop from the sky, when we ask, "What am I going to buy?" Certainly, we all have friends and family members who seem to have all of the necessary, as well as unnecessary, fringe benefits that life has to offer.
Many of these folks we know have just about every item ever made that plugs into an electric socket and then some. If they need something, they buy it. Simply put, when they want something they buy it. Then there are those we know, that have specific tastes and might not like what we would want to give them at all. Now, it's your awesome responsibility to honor this person on a special occasion with a gift that they will treasure. You may want to create your own gift certificate for them to redeem when they could have you cook a meal. Or, you could surprise them on a weekend morning by delivering a tray filled with croissants, sweet rolls, jams, complete with a breakfast casserole, mimosas and the New York Times. If the weather's right, fill up a picnic basket to the brim with their favorite wine, cheese, breads and chocolates in a beautiful basket or hamper and leave it on the doorstep. A tray of muffins, cookies and scones with a bag of gourmet coffee delivered to their office is a welcome surprise.
