Testimonies: My finest moment in a role-playing game

Oh, this isn't fair. I've been gaming for over twenty years and I can think of so many moments that I absolutely loved. I'll just have to go with one of my more recent favorite moments:

I was invited to play in a Vampire: The Masquerade game with some friends. I had skimmed a few of the books and a flimsy (at best!) grasp of the gaming system. I did know that it emphasized more role playing and less dice throwing. I figured it should be a piece of cake to just fall back on my normal role playing skills to get me through this.

I created a vampire from clan Malkavian (they're an interesting clan that are all insane - I'm talking totally bonkers). I based this vampire off of William Shakespeare. He was even convinced that he was a modern-day version of The Bard and that All The World was indeed A Stage to him. He was living in a constant play (okay, movie. He was coherent enough to keep up with the times).

He trundled around Eastern Europe with a traveling show that would just show up, set up stage, and do shows - whether they were invited or not. It was just their style. So, in this spirit they showed up at the gates of a city that was controlled by another player in the party, a Toreador (these vampires have a tendency to be extremely vain art fanatics). He tried to turn away my caravan when someone else walked up to both of us. I introduced my character to him as "Bill" and he said that his name was "Bill". My character reached into his jacket and pulled out a nametag that said "Hi, my name is BILL" and I told him that he couldn't be Bill because I had the nametag. He corrected himself and said that his name was actually "Joe".

(a little background here, my game master had hinted to me a couple of weeks earlier that he was getting toward the end of his campaign and that the end of days were close - he was also hinting that he was going to be bringing Caine (the first vampire) into the campaign.)

Now, Malkavians are quite mad, but they usually know things that others don't. They have an insane kind of "sight" that lets them see what others don't - unfortunately, their madness makes it impossible for them to communicate it to otherwise "sane" vampires - or mortals - or anyone. So, Bill looked at "Joe" and said "Oh wow! Joe! How are you? It's great to see you! Let's go into the city together!", and Joe, Bill, and Bill's caravan invited themselves into the city.

This was driving the Toreador crazy (so to speak) partially because he didn't like Malkavians, but mostly
