Best NFL quarterbacks of the 2007-2008 season

by bad character or unnecessary showmanship. This is never the case for Tom Brady. Heavily followed by the media and photographed daily, he's never caught in a compromising situation or without a friendly look upon his face. Even when his ex-girlfriend announced she was pregnant with Brady's child days after he's spotted walking around Manhattan with Giselle, a Victoria Secret model, he managed to maintain everyone's affection. Maybe it's the dimples. Brady has become the number one athlete role model by doing the unmentionable, winning every game, breaking records, and firmly carving his place into history without losing himself. He deserves the undisputed number one spot for the best quarterback of the 2007-2008 season.

If this were any other season, I might argue that Peyton Manning, Tony Romo, Brett Favre and Ben Roethlisberger deserve to be on the list somewhere, in no particular order. Peyton threw for thirty-one touchdowns, fourteen interceptions and 4,040 yards. Manning assisted the Colts in clinching a first round bye with his stellar quarterback play. Tony Romo, despite his recurring post-season follies, threw thirty-six touchdowns, nineteen interceptions and 4,211 yards. He made the Cowboys look as though they were the only team with a chance to challenge the Patriots in the Super Bowl, only to end, once again, in a disappointing playoff appearance. Brett Favre, the quarterback who has ninety lives, emerged as a (vintage) star, having the best season of his career at the young age of thirty-six. He threw for twenty-eight touchdowns, fifteen interceptions and 4,155 yards. Not only were his stats impressive, he led an infant, underrated NFL team to the NFC championship game and earned them undisputed respect as a valued competitor for the upcoming season. Finally, Big Ben, while quiet in the media, had an impressive year. He threw for thirty-two touchdowns, eleven interceptions and 3,154 yards. He led the Steelers into a nail-biting playoff game against the Jaguars and scored nineteen points in the fourth quarter to pull within three. Regrettably, it wasn't enough to win, but the game will go down as one of the best post-season games in history.

All of these quarterbacks had quality seasons, each with their own impressive story that will carry them into next season. Unfortunately, when comparing them against the 2007-2008 Tom Brady, their impressive stories and hard fought year trickles into the wayside. Tom Brady had the best season amongst quarterbacks in 2007-2008, likely in his entire career and maybe, just maybe, the best season for any quarterback of all time.
