Movie quotes are memorable because they are small pearls of wisdom, little witticisms to which our media-loving culture can relate. They're bytes that can have an impact even if the rest of the movie was unmemorable. Case in point: I hate Star Wars, but I will always remember Darth Vader's "Luke, I am your father."

Some movie quotes become such a mainstream part of society that years later many don't know where the quote originated. Will future generations know where "You had me at hello" came from? How about "I'll be back"?

Some quotes are timeless, and some are generational. But the key is that they are a jewel, a small part of the movie viewers easily recollect years later.
