The "Thank You" Note

Lynda grabbed her briefcase, coffee, and purse. With her free hand, she opened the car door and threw her briefcase and purse in the empty passenger seat. She pressed the open button on the garage door opener and proceeded to back the car out of the garage. Just before she was getting ready to push the button to close the garage door, Lynda remembered that she forgot the bag of candy on the kitchen counter. She jumped out of the car, leaving the car door open and the car running, and ran back into the house and grabbed the bag of candy. She needed the candy to fill up the candy jar on her desk at work. Someone was helping themselves to her candy behind her back and this week she was going to find out who was taking the candy.

The drive to work wasn't bad, for a Monday morning. The security guard held the front door open as Lynda rush through the front door and to the elevator. Once in the elevator, Lynda pushed the number 7 button. Once the elevator stopped and the doors opened on the 7th floor, Lynda got out and took a right down the hallway. Her office was 6 doors on the left. Lynda opened the door. The clock on the wall said 7:30a.m. She did not have to be to work till 8:00a.m. But she wanted to come in early so she could fill up her candy jar. Today was the day, Lynda was going to catch who was taking all of her candy. Her candy jar held about 100 pieces of candy and she was filling up her jar every other day. She did not mind sharing, but 100 pieces of candy should last her a month or longer, not 2 days. Lynda opened the bag of candy and filled up the candy jar. She straightened her desk and got ready for the day.

Lynda opened the right top desk drawer. Whoever was taking the candy was very polite. They always left a note by the jar saying, "Thank You". She must have had 20 notes stashed away in her desk drawer neatly in a pile. She looked up at the clock. 7:45a.m. Lynda quickly closed her desk drawer because she did not want anyone to think she was up to something, but she knew that she was determined to find out who was taking all of her candy.

Lynda looked up from her computer and glanced at the clock on the wall. 10:05a.m. From where Lynda sat, she could see everyone in the office. Jason and Thomas were standing by the copy machine waiting and talking, Laurie was busy talking on the phone to a client, and Allyson was handing
