Staying faithful to belief

I can't.

For various reasons, I've found myself saying this a lot. It's usually backed up with a seemingly good excuse; I'm too tired, I'm too busy, there's no way I can do that, I can't afford it, blah, blah, blah. That's because I'm looking at the task with only my eyes, and relying on the strength of my own two hands to complete it. How successful am I going to be, only relying on myself? Though my intentions may be good, my offering alone is weak. THIS is where faith and trust become important.

When God calls upon us to act, He does so with a fury that can't be ignored. Sometimes He asks the seemingly impossible of us; and we question His judgment of our capabilities, yet the pressure to rise up and accomplish said task is so intense that it creates an undeniable drive, and with it comes an almost superhuman strength and endless optimism- the kind that moves Heaven and earth; the kind that when working alone, we can't quite muster. He knows our potential, and confronts us with certain challenges to make us see it in ourselves. If we rise to the challenge, He meets us halfway in conquering it, because just as we are faithful in Him, He is faithful in us. He trusts me to do His work, and I trust Him to guide me to do it. It's a divine system of checks and balances in which we all reap the benefits.

So when you say, 'I can't,' you're right. "I" is singular, and some mountains are just too big to move by ourselves. I've found that instead of saying that "I can't" whenever God asks me to give extensively of myself, it works much better to say, "we can." And somehow, we always DO. I have seen firsthand what God can do when we are obedient and we do what is asked of us without pause or question. Instead of looking upon it as a burden to provide from a place of emptiness, we should see it as an honor to be asked, and go forth with a mighty spirit and hopeful heart in the name of God, trusting Him to meet us halfway in our endeavors. Faith is rewarded by faith, and faith grows a pure and happy heart. There is no greater gift for one's troubles.
