Many of us know Dr. Drew as the famous voice behind the hit radio call in program Loveline which aired on KROQ in 1982. He grew a large fan base and many people do not realize that Dr. Drew is actually a practicing medical doctor and is a board certified in addiction medicine.
He is the Medical Director for the Department of Chemical Dependency Services at Las Encinas Hospital in Pasadena, California. He is also a staff member of Huntington Memorial Hospital, and he continues to run a private practice and is also Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the Keck USC School of Medicine.
With so much going on Dr. Drew is now the host and the doctor that is helping out the celebrities as the attempt to recover from their addictions. Each one of the celebrities has one or more addictions and we get an inside look into their personal life and watch as they try to overcome obstacles.
The Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew cast include the following celebrities ....
Mary Carey ~ Famous in the adult film industry.
Brigitte Nielsen ~ Actress and appeared on other reality shows.
Daniel Baldwin ~ Actor, part of the famous Baldwin family.
Joanie Laurer (Chyna) ~ Famous for her career in the WWF and she has since down other reality shows and acting.
Jeff Conaway ~ Actor, was nominated for two Golden Globes.
Jaimee Foxworth ~ actress from Family Matters and a few movies.
Ricco Rodriguez ~ World famous martial arts fighter.
Jessica Sierra ~ From American Idol in 2005.
Seth Binzer ~ Singer and co founder of the group Crazy Town.
The first episode shows them arriving at the facility and the majority of them are either high, possibly drunk, or on the verge. It shows them checking in and having their first interview with Dr. Drew. They then talk to each other and discuss their lives and their issues with the substance they are addicted to.
Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew is the first of its kind to showcase celebrities and their battle with addiction. This is a show that already has captivated viewers as they wait to see who will stay and get clean, and who will check out and return to their destructive lifestyle.
The show itself is interesting as you watch people who you think are living the high life with celebrity status battling their own problems. It makes you realize that celebrities are people just as we all are and they have their problems. The show is already a hit for VH1 and I am sure there will be another season in the works after this one.
