I've never been an Apple guru. The only Apple product I own is the iPod Mini and now the newly revamped iPod Classic. Once upon a time I thought to invest in some kind of a notebook as I am a music producer. I write songs. Most everyone I know who uses any kind of studio software such as Sonar or Pro Tools uses a Mac computer. Reason? I walked into a Guitar Center store not too long ago and asked questions. There answer was simple: Better quality and more reliability. However, my only problem was the price was out of my budget. After using my recording software on a Windows based PC, there were several minor details that needed to be adjusted in order to keep my system running properly.
I was invited to the Mac World Expo with a friend who buys everything Apple. He owns nearly every product Apple has created. In awe of what Apple products really consist of and their ever-improving technology, Apple may have won yet again another fan. As it lies open, the keyboard is almost not visible when looking straight onward. A new feature to the Mac line is the backlit keys as well. When I record music, I record in a quiet, serene, low lit room to preserve the mood. I don't want to have to worry about using the wrong shortcut key and compromising my work. The last thing I want to do is hit the "region delete" command and lose the perfect audio take.
Portability is a must for me in a growing studio. I write and record with many musicians. Sometimes it's more convenient for me to pack up and come to them. Well with the MacBook Air weighing just 3 pounds and being less than an inch thick, I am positive I can carry the notebook safely, with ease and not worry about extra weight slowly me down. The thinner build is due to the LED backlit screen versus
