Poetry: Be my Valentine

I made a wish
one lonely night
upon a star
of brilliant light

I wished to find love
Simple, pure and true
I wished from my heart
when I wished for you

I knew what I needed
and dreamed it out loud
as I looked upon the little star
high up in the clouds

I knew I wanted someone
who would touch my soul
I longed to find the half
I knew would make me whole

I so much wanted someone
who could look into my eyes
and give my heart its wings
so together we could fly

I simply wished for someone
who would love with honesty
with passion trust and strength
to share my life with me

And then the star I found
seemed to float away
I smiled as I thought of
the precious wish I'd made

I didn't know an angel
sat amidst that brilliant light
he took the wish to God
I had made that night
