Hockey is a contact sport.

We as a society can pretend that it isn't, and we can pretend that it's not supposed to be, but the fact is 'Hockey is a Contact Sport.' Other contact sports include rugby, wrestling, and boxing.

I am not what you would consider a Sports fan. I suppose I don't have the attention span for them however I definitely prefer contact sports to non-contact sports.

As for the rules regarding violence in sports I like to believe that the rules and regulations regarding contact sports should be dictated by the fans.

Professional Sports are a business and like any other business the fan is also the customer. The market can and always has dictated the rules and regulations regarding conduct of the participants. What the sporting world doesn't need is people and organizations from outside of the Arena dictating the rules and regulations.

I offer American Baseball as an Example. The steroid scandal has devastated the sport and the tax payers have spent millions of dollars along with thousands of hours of our elected officials time mediating, interrogating, punishing, and extorting the players, when our officials were not dispatched to Washington to manage Americas Greatest Past-time.

Please don't misunderstand this single voice of reason shouting from the sea of madness that is pro-sports regulation. I am not for violence or steroids, I am not a fan or customer and am therefor neutral. I just feel that sports regulation should be managed by the market place. I assure you that if the teams make a disclosure to the fans and the fans don't like what they hear than they won't come to the games and the players that cause this will lose their contracts. This is how business works and the business of sports shouldn't be any different.

If the fans appreciate and are willing to support the violent players and teams than let those owners, franchises, and players make their money.

With our economy in shambles, while we are in the middle of a war, and the weather changing all around us I think we can trust the hockey players and fans to sort out the Hockey business.
