The long-term effects of pregnancy on a woman's body

A woman's body was made for one thing and one thing only, to give birth. Its an amazing body and we are made to recreate. And not just recreate once but many many times. Whatever effects happen to your body are natural an the effects that it was mean to have to move on from the stage of being a person with no babies to a person with babies.

Yes, you will gain weight. Some of us more then others. But that is OK. Its a natural part of pregnancy. Will you loose the weight after pregnancy? I have read that a woman can expect to maintain five addition pounds per pregnancy. Thats considered natural by the experts. Five small pounds per pregnancy is a small price to pay to give birth and have a lovely baby to show for those five pounds?

Will you get stretch marks? Maybe. They are natural also. Its a matter of our genes. Some of use will get more stretch marks then others. Some of us will be lucky and never get a mark. I believe in trying everything you can do to prevent them but if you end up being one of those women who have a genetic propensity towards getting the marks then its OK because again, you have a beautiful life to show for those marks.

Some women will have breasts that have morphed into something different and thats OK too. A natural part of giving birth and possibly breast feeding if you choose to go that route.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that a woman's body was made to give birth. All the effects that transpire from the pregnancy are natural and meant to be. Some of them you can combat but in the end they are small changes that don't matter when you consider that you have done the most amazing thing in the world. You have made a life and given birth to a precious baby.

As we go through life our body changes anyway. We grow older, our hair grays, we get wrinkles, our breasts sag anyway, our skin looses it elasticity, and eventually we go through the biggest change of all menopause. So life is about changes. We cannot maintain our bodies in perfect peak condition no matter what we do. So why sit around and worry about what pregnancy will do to our bodies? Just enjoy the miracle of it all and consider that any changes that happen are natural. And beautiful in their own right.
