sets the tone for the paper. Your professor has read through hundreds of papers on the same topic. Make yours stand out. Make yours memorable with originality in this one statement alone.

The conclusion paragraph is the last paragraph of the essay. Guess what? You sum up what you said in the paper. Just write it in different words. Easy enough, right?

Each paragraph between the introduction and conclusion is a main point that you want to discuss about the topic of your essay. The main point should be discussed in the first sentence with at least three sentences of supporting evidence.

Every paragraph should be at least three to five sentences. How can you come up with all that stuff to write about? If you know your subject, it will be easier than you think.

There are a few other tips that you need to know that will make your writing "A" quality. These are tips that your professor may have already told you. You may have already learned them, but use them as you write.

Always use the active voice. This is opposed to using passive voice. An example of passive voice is: "I have been to the store." The same sentence using active voice is: "I went to the store." Passive voice may not seem like a big deal, but there are professors who will take off points when it is used.

Do not use the words "I" or "You." These words might be used in a persuasive piece of writing, but most likely, you won't ever need to use them while writing college essays. Dropping these from your essays will give you the upper edge on your writing quality.

Once you've formed your outline, take another break. Why break so much? This time away really refreshes you. Sometimes you can read the information so much that none of it makes sense anymore. Write when you are refreshed and clear-minded.

It's time to prepare your paper. You have your outline, your sources, and a cup of coffee in front of you. Start writing your paper. If you are typing or writing by hand, get started as soon as you feel ready.

Once you've finished your paper, proofread it. Ask a friend to check for grammar and spelling mistakes. Find out if your campus has tutors in the English Department and enlist their help. Double checking and having other people edit your work can help you see things in your writing that you might not have noticed.

Don't ever wait until the night before the paper is due to begin your work. There is no way anyone can turn in a quality paper by starting it the night before. Get started early and you're sure to be successful.

Mastering the essay is a sure way to pass any essay exam or regular homework exercise. A college essay can be frustrating for some, but implementing this formula will land a passing score every time.
