The power of positive thinking and attitude

Harness the power of positive thinking and attitude and you will be amazed in this new outlook can change what is happening in your life. The power is within you to make some basic changes that will improve your attitude and increase your success in whatever you want to achieve.

Dale Carnegie made a career by writing his renowned bestseller: The Power of Positive Thinking. Although that classic was written more than a generation ago, his theory has been shown to bring amazing results.

Rather than moving along through life using trial and error and force of habit to work toward achieving your goals, try to include some of these tips to boost your attitude. The power is withing you!

1. Collect positive thoughts-
Learn about others and pay attention to what people say about their experiences. How can you connect with others? It might be in a club or organization or by reading about other people in biographies and memoirs. As for me, famous quotations really spoke to me. For example,

"Most folks are about as happy
as they make up their minds to be."
~Abraham Lincoln

"No one can make you feel inferior
without your consent."
~Eleanor Roosevelt

"Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions.
Small people always do that, but the really great ones
make you feel that you, too, can become great."
~Mark Twain

That's just a beginning. Keep adding quotations to your collection. Write them in a journal or notebook. They will be uplifting and you will even have a keepsake.

2. Get the rest and sleep you need. There is a lot of truth to the thinking that things will look better in the morning. Sleep deprivation and/or stress is debilitating.

3. Is it time to revamp your eating habits? Have you been eating like a college student for twenty years. Wake up you senses and break your routines with new recipes, new food selections, new restaurants.

4. Take time to reflect. This may take the form of journal writing, creative outlets, long walks, etc. It is essential to your humanity.

5. Find out what you are good at. It's out there. Take time to explore your strengths. It is wonderful if you enjoy your job, but the truth is that your abilities may actually emerge from your hobbies, interests, and ...by chance. Be open to recognizing your talents!

6. Physical activity has been shown to boost spirits and elevate mood. Dancing, walking, cycling, water exercise, skating. Physiologically, your body responds to regular, rhythmic exercise by producing endorphins, a fascinating body chemical that makes the world look a whole lot better after physical exercise.

Do not wait for or expect someone else to boost your mood. That's a nice gift if it happens, but it will, more than likely, be up to you to re-evaluate your thinking and outlook about the world around you.

What can you do to help yourself? When you notice that you can improve your own mood and boost your morale, be sure to give yourself credit and add that technique to YOUR bag of tricks. Draw on your increasing inner resources to harness and use the power of positive thinking and attitude.
