Album reviews: Five Score and Seven Years Ago, by Relient K

Personally I think that this is Relient K's best album yet. Although few people know it, there are actually 15 songs in this album, but only 14 of them were included in the CD. The 15th can be bought on iTunes and it is also on the DVD if you got the two disc special edition of this album.

1) Plead the Fifth- An amazing a capella song. I'm not sure which I like more, the amazing music (I didn't know it was possible to make some of those sounds with your mouth) or the mysterious lyrics. You might have to listen to the song two or three times to understand all of the lyrics. 10/10

2) Come Right Out and Say It- Matt T.'s voice is just perfect for this song. The balance between music and lyrics is just right. I love the chorus. The best chorus on the CD. 9/10

3) I Need You- To be honest, I don't really like the intro, which is probably why I don't have much to say about it because the intro makes me not want to listen to the song. When I am in the mood, however, I really like this song. I've found that most of RK's CD's have a central theme. This one's seems to be that the singer is in total hopeless and is crying out to God asking for help. 8.5/10

4) The Best Thing- I don't listen to this song that often, but when I am listening I ask myself why. It is an amazing song. It is one of the many RK songs that could be talking about different people. 8.5/10

5) Forgiven- I love this song (or course I love all of the songs on this CD so that isn't saying much). The chorus (You can't see past the blood on my hands to see that you've been aptly damned (not used inappropriately here because damned means cursed and I can see where that could be true here)) to me means that we see other's faults before we can see our own and that just really speaks to me 9.5/10

6) Must've Done Something Right- This is the happiest song on the CD and I really like it. The lyrics are very clever, but not too clever. 10/10

7)Give Until There's Nothing Left- I really like the music on this track. Again it's one that I don't listen to very often. I don't really ask why I don't listen to it, but when I do listen to it I get chills. It is very deep. 8/10

8)Devastation and Reform- My second favorite song on this CD. It is so true and touching to me. The first line really draws me in (Fear can drive stick, and it's takin' me down this road). The music is also really go here. 10/10

9) I'm Taking You With Me- Another great song. Not many bands could've set this kind of message to the kind of rock successfully,
