Poetry: Deja Vu

I'm sure I've seen this place before,
Sure I've paced along this floor.
This funny feeling fills my mind,
Sanity so hard to find.

That creaking gate and grass so tall,
I recognize them most of all.
But sure am i this place is new,
I can't recall a previous view.

The feeling almost knocks me down,
It's hard to breathe, i can't turn round.
For if i could, with all my might,
I'd run so far with fear or fright.

But there i am stood rooted here,
Wondering what had drawn me near.
The path i walked was not one chose,
Perhaps its fate, perhaps, who knows.

Confusion soon takes sense away,
I've been here once before today.
I must have or i wouldn't see,
Familiar sights in front of me.

It's unexplained and warps my mind,
Whats that noise i hear behind?
The gate has closed behind my back,
My footprints settle on the track.

For only seconds passed me by,
It seemed a lifetime from my eye.
This brief encounter long will stay,
Had i been here before or gone out of my way?
