The greatest wrestling tag teams of all-time

were eventually spotted by a young Bruce Hart and brought in to Canadian territory Stampede Wrestling, where they entered into a gripping feud over the British Commonwealth Mid-Heavyweight Championship.

Their feud soon spilled over to NJPW in Japan, where it involved into a three-way battle involving The Cobra as the three battled for the NWA Jr. Heavyweight strap.

Before long though, Dynamite and Davey Boy began a regular team as The British Bulldogs, and when Vince McMahon Jr.'s World Wrestling Federation bought out Stampede in 1984, the 'Bulldogs jumped on board and quickly cemented themselves as a force to be reckoned with; taking the WWF tag team titles from the Dream Team of Brutus Beefcake and Greg Valentine and Wrestlemania II (a performance also noted for the appearance of rocker Ozzy Osborne in the British Bulldogs' corner).

After feuds with The Hart Foundation, the aforementioned Dream Team and others, the Bulldogs eventually left the WWF to return to Stampede and enjoy some success in All Japan.

Yet despite their success as a duo, the story of the British Bulldogs does not have a happy ending. After a major falling out, Smith and Billington would despise each other for the rest of their days, with Billington confined to a wheel-chair long after his retirement in 1991 and Davey Boy Smith tragically passing away in 2002.

Yet their influence on pro wrestling is not to be denied, and the British Bulldogs were truly one of the greatest teams in history.

THE HART FOUNDATION

Like the aforementioned 'Bulldogs, Bret 'The Hitman ' Hart and Jim 'The Anvil' Niedhart got their break in their family-owned territory of Stampede Wrestling before jumping to the WWF once owner Vince McMahon bought out the Hart-owned firm.

Their, the brothers-in-law enjoyed huge success, first as heels, capturing the group's tag titles on two seperate occasions.

With their unique combination of The Anvil's raw power and The Hitman's technical excelence , the Hart Foundation had hit upon a winning formula, and entered into many classic encounters with the likes of the British Bulldogs and The Rougeau Brothers, emerging as one of the most popular tag teams of the golden age of tag team wrestling back in the eighties.

THE STEINER BROTHERS

No list of greatest tag teams would be quite complete without mentioning Rick and Scott.

Celebrated amateur wrestlers from Michigan, the Steiner Brothers came into being in the late 1980s in the NWA .

Elder-brother Rick had already been competing on a pro basis with the group, most notably as part of Kevin Sullivan's 'Varsity Club stable before eventually being joined by Scott.

The duo would go on to enjoy huge success wherever they went, tearing it up across the NWA , WCW , WWF , WCW and even in Japan and collecting numerous titles en-route.

After returning to singles competition in the late nineties/early naughties, the duo were recently reunited in TNA in the latter 2000s.

Wonderfully exciting, dynamic and hard-hitting, even now, some years after their prime, seeing the Steiner Brothers is still an enjoyable experience.

OTHER POPULAR MENTIONS.

The teams listed above are just a small number of some of the greatest duos to ever hit the squared circle, but that's not to say there aren't many more.

If you're relatively new to the grap game, go and get yourself tapes of the Fabulous Freebirds , The Hardys , Harlem Heat and The Rockers.
