Dynasties have come and gone in the National Football League throughout the last few decades. The 70's were dominated by the Steelers, the 80's saw the rise of the 49'ers, the 90's champions were the Cowboys and the first decade of the new millenium definitely belongs to the New England Patriots. The 12th round draft pick out of Michigan (Tom Brady) has already led his team to an impressive 3 Super Bowl victories over the past 6 years and is looking to add to his jewelry collection one more time with this stunning undefeated season. If nobody is perfect, than the Patriots are about as close as you can get.

The 1972 football season was the initial record setting season in the NFL, with the Miami Dolphins going undefeated in the regular season and continuing on to win the Championship Game. Ever since that year, many of the players from the '72 Dolphins would gather every year when the last undefeated team would finally put a L in the Win/Loss column. Mercury Morris, Bob Griese, and Don Shula with other members of that team would all meet and pop the champagne and celebrate the fact that they still maintained the only undefeated season in NFL history. The boys from Miami were not afforded that luxury this year. Mercury Morris, who would rant every year about not alerting him until some team is not only on his block, but about to knock on his door, got his door blown down by Tom Brady, Randy Moss, and the rest of the Pats.

The Las Vegas sportsbooks and betting public had never seen such an enigma with betting lines as they did this year, with New England covering lines of 19, 20, and 21 points. No, New England definitely did not cover the spread on every game this season, but 16-0 speaks volumes to the rest of the league.

Will the Pats beat the Giants in the big game and officially go undefeated for the whole 2007-2008 season. Will Tom Brady have a ring for every finger on one hand (excluding his thumb)? Or will the Manning luck continue on from last year's Super Bowl to the little brother? Nobody can answer any of these questions right now, but it is safe to say that due to the audience for the last game of the season hosting these same two teams, this will no doubt be the largest television audience in history for what can possibly be only the second perfect season in NFL history. The real question is who will Bill Belichick shake hands with after the game?
