I lose track of what is what and who is who. I feel his emotions so deeply that I share them, I become them I adopt them as my own. I realize that on some mental or spiritual plane we have become one, and my body disappears as my soul and his merge in his physical body. As our souls merge I am whisked through a bright tunnel, full of light as the force of our collective emotional experience increases exponentially and all of a sudden, all at once, everything stops. There is silence. All I see in front of me is the dead wood hanging from the unfinished ceiling that haunts the place where I sleep.
Here we are, in the time that matters most for the planet and all those who will follow. This is the most exciting, involved and emotional, trying and testing time in known history; and the world and our lives are already in such bad shape that we've got less to live for than any other generation in history. We are sharing the Earth with well over 6 billion people how high quality can our life possibly be in comparison with anyone who lived at a time of less severe human overpopulation, influence and ultimately destruction.
It is industrial civilization that is doing this to us; to the rest of the world. We've pushed our unsustainable lifestyle as far as it can go and signs are popping up everywhere that this lifestyle will lead us and the planet to certain doom if we continue down this path and still there are those who are threatening to thrust the last piece of pie into the insatiable maw of industrial civilization.
I have heard so many people say "If I knew I had a terminal illness I would totally blow up a dam" or something to that effect. Well the truth is that we all have a terminal illness; only it's not inside of individuals and spreading the terminal illness that we all share is external and it is called "civilization," and it involves the enslavement of the human race by depriving its members of access to the land and breaking their spirits, and then using the resulting slaves to kill off all other species.
We need to stop this, and if the consequences are severe then who cares what have we got to live for anyway? Do you want to be the one sitting next to that lake of depleted uranium 25 years from now? I think the time may be here to ask ourselves is personal survival worth the effort if everything else is allowed to die? The time to make a choice is now. No other people from any other time can fight this fight for us. It has to be us, and it has to be now. And look on the bright side we just happen to be the generation with nothing to lose; how convenient is that!?!?
