Since the days of Street Fighter, Killer Instinct, and Mortal Kombat, fighting games have gradually become more and more advanced with plenty of new content, improved looks, and extensive fighting styles. The X-Box 360's High Definition graphics bring a "life like" battle into your living room coupled with surround sound in Dolby Digital. What a combination. But what are the top fighting games for the X-Box 360?
1. Soulcalibur IV - Although this title is not released yet (estimated arrival in the summer of 2008), it is extremely anticipated and test players have already rated it as the number one fighting game for either of the two consoles it will be released for. Why? Namco Bandai teamed up with Lucas Arts to make an exclusive character for the X-Box and one for the PS3. Darth Vader will be joining the fight on the PlayStation 3 while the little green Yoda joins the X-Box team.
Besides being able to wield a lightsaber, Soulcalibur IV will also allow players to make customized characters with unique moves as well as play online. Since the release of the first Soulcalibur on the Sega Dreamcast, this weapon-wielding fighting game has almost always landed on top.
2. Dead or Alive 4 - Almost identical in looks and game play as its previous version Dead or Alive Ultimate, but with more characters, better graphics, and new moves. DOA4 also allows online play for a tough match anytime of the day with X-Box Live. Because of the multi-level graphics pioneered by Tecmo, gamers have more of a real life atmosphere when smashing opponents into objects lying around.
3. Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit - Another Namco Bandai title that is not yet released but due sometime in 2008. Atari is no longer at odds with the rights holder to the Dragon Ball Z name and has created a great looking 3D online fighting game with the DBZ theme. The connection is solely based on your internet speed and your opponents, however, slower speeds on either your behalf or theirs can greatly reduce your playing ability.
The best is yet to come for the X-Box 360 in terms of fighting style games, but what a year it will be. So get your pre-release Soulcalibur IV reservation early, and may the Force be with you!
