"I don't know why I left
But I know that I was wrong
But it won't be long
Till I get on back home..." - popular U.S. Army marching cadence

Army life is vastly different than civilian life - and not everyone is cut out for it. Being a member of the Army, you'll discover that there are aspects of it that will puzzle you and irritate you, and things that you'll absolutely love; regardless of what those things are, the Army is a lifestyle, not a job.

WHO WILL YOU BECOME?
After you've completed all of your training, the real fun begins. You've changed so much as a result of what you've learned, and sometimes that's difficult for your civilian counterparts to understand - but with a little patience, you can show them that all of the changes are for the better; you're stronger, more independent, and you're mentally prepared for whatever comes your way.

The training you receive in the Army isn't just limited to a certain job. It's all about making you grow as a person, a member of a team, and a productive member of society as a whole. The pride you have inside after completing your training is unlike anything you've ever experienced before - you'll enjoy higher self-esteem, a better mind-set, and the ability to do anything you set your mind to.

YOUR PHYSIQUE
You'll train hard in the Army, but you'll be able to play hard too. You'll do PT (Physical Training) every morning during the week with your squad (who will be like brothers and sisters to you). The weekends are yours, and as long as you enjoy them responsibly, they'll stay that way. If not, your leaders may step in to slow you down - but that's for your own good.

You can't help but stay in shape when you're a member of the Army. By maintaining the good habits you've started, you'll be set up for a lifetime of success whether you stay in the Army or get out as soon as your contract is up.

THE ARMY FAMILY
When you're in the Army, you don't just show up to work and go home. You'll develop such close relationships with all of your co-workers that they become a part of your family. Those relationships will help you make it through deployments alive and teach you about teamwork and caring.

When you need something, the Army is there. Your battle buddies - your fellow Soldiers - are there. No matter what it is, you'll be a part of something unlike anything else in the world, and you never have to worry about doing anything on your own or without support.

Your family becomes a part of the Army family, too - not just you. There's a huge
