GAYLE SAYERS, CHICAGO BEARS: 'The Kansas Comet' was another back cut in the mold of the great Jim Brown. He also had a short lived career but people are still talking about some of the moves and the enormous speed that the had.

TONY DORSETT, DALLAS COWBOYS: The 1976 Heisman Award winner from the University of Pittsburgh is the man of lore among the Dallas faithfull. He most memorable run was one from 1983 on Monday Night Football when he took one for 95 yards to the house. Injuries got him at the end but whenever someone looks for the best running back of the early 1980's look no farther than this Hall of Famer.

JOHN RIGGINS, NEW YORK JETS AND WASHINGTON REDSKINS: 'Rev up that Diesel'. That was the cheer of the Redskins fans after John Riggins memorable 46 yard TD run in Super Bowl XVII that put the 'Skins up for good en route to their first Super Bowl against the Miami Dolphins. Alot of folks forget that he had 100+ TD's and over 10,000 career yards. The bruising back got it done and was well known for his mohawk haircut during the early and mid 70's.

ERIC DICKERSON, LA RAMS, INDIANAPOLIS COLTS, AND OAKLAND RAIDERS: He looked funny with those goggles and a neck collar that looked either two sizes too small and some days two sizes too big. One thing for sure though is that Dickerson got the Rams into the playoffs year after year. The Southern Methodist workhorse was one of the best of his time and who can't forget that long stride and leaving them defenders in the dust.

LARRY CSZONKA, MIAMI DOLPHINS: Larry Cszonka was the workhorse back of the early 70's. He and team mate Mercury Morris are still the only running back tandem to both rush for over 1,000 yards. He was a bruiser that gave way to the style that Riggins would adopt. Cszonka was one of the big players on the '72 Dolphins team that went undefeated and won the Super Bowl.

LADANIAN TOMLINSON, SAN DIEGO CHARGERS: In little over 7 seasons, LaDanian Tomlinson has already scored over 100 touchdowns. No one has done it faster. I truly believe by the end of his career he will break Emmitt Smith's careet record and might just look at Jerry Rice's careet TD's record. He is the best going today and we still haven't seen the best of what he's got.

I am sure there are more running backs that are worthy to be mentioned here. These are my top 10. These are the 10 that I would put up against anybody, anytime.
