Beautiful, healthy, long hair is an asset most women would love to have. It takes some time to achieve the results you want, especially if you're starting from very short hair, but in the end, it's well worth the effort. With experience of having long hair and growing it out twice within the last five years, I've got plenty of tips to share.
Brushing your hair 100 times daily really does help. This exfoliates dead skin cells on the scalp allowing oxygen to get to the pores and helps hair growth. If dead skin cells remain on the scalp, the skin tightens, the pores tighten, and your hair will not grow. It actually falls out.
If your hair is wet, use a comb. Combing your hair with a brush when it is wet can break your hair. You can also use a pick when your hair is wet.
With dry hair, use a soft-bristle brush. These kinds of brushes may cause some static electricity in your hair, but you can smooth it down with your hands or a short spray of hairspray.
Give yourself a salon treatment. Ever notice how the stylist massages your scalp while she shampoos it? This increases the blood flow in your scalp which helps the hair follicles to grow. Spend extra time shampooing and massaging your head with the tips of your fingers. It feels great and makes your hair look great, too!
While shampooing your hair, start at the roots above your forehead. Use your fingertips and pressure to create small circular motions and work your way back to the crown. Begin again at your hairline in front of your ears and massage back to the nape of your neck.
Shampoo and massaging the hairline is very important to stimulate the follicles at the root. This also removes any oily buildups from your face and neck. Shampoo the rest of your head with this massaging technique and you will see added volume and life in your hair.
Always use conditioner and leave it on for a few minutes before rinsing. If you have really oily hair, only use conditioner on the ends of your hair. Conditioner can add oils to your hair. It can also help reduce frizz. Rinse the conditioner out with cool water for maximum shine.
Turn the heat down on your hair dryer. Use a hair dryer that has a warm setting. Do not use the hot setting to dry your hair. The excessive heat will damage hair, causing split ends and frizzy hair.
The only time to use the hottest setting on your dryer is when you're using a hair color product. Hair lighteners such as Sun-In are sprayed onto damp hair. If you're not going to be out in the
