Good question, especially with the way liberal churches are trying to be accommodating to other beliefs, using man's wisdom to try and get alone with other belief systems. The reasoning behind this move is, "we should work together and not offend others, and there are many paths to God." However, the bible is the standard, which should be used to answer the question. Romans 3:4, reads "God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.

When you read the Old Testament with this question in mind, you have to ask yourself why God instituted the blood sacrifice in the temple for the forgiveness of sin for the individual or for the whole nation on the day of Passover. Why not let the Israelites follow the way of the idolatries of the nation they entered? They could not because God is a jealous God and will not share His glory. God set up the Ten Commandments and the law of the temple to separate His people from the rest of the world. He stated that as long as they would obey Him and live their lives according to His laws they would prosper and be blessed. However, the failure to obey carried with it a warning that they would be given to their enemies. This can be found in the Old Testament where you find that the Israelites where conquered several times because of their turning to idols and ignoring God. If being accommodating to other beliefs is not detrimental to still being accepted by God, then why did He let His people go into captivity?

The Ten Commandments and the sacrificial offerings for sin show the way to God. God has declared that the penalty for sin is death and the sin offering provides the death of an animal in place of the person thus gaining forgiveness for that person. Not an indication about being inclusive of other belief systems.

This method of reaching God in the Old Testament is the shadow of what was coming in the New Testament. The sacrificial offering was a sign pointing to the ultimate sacrifice, Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary. All the prophecies of the Old Testament came to fruition in Him. He shed His blood to purchase salvation for all those who would believe in Him and accept His salvation. When Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life, and no one cometh unto the father, but by Me." (John 14:6) This is not stated as one of many ways, but the only way to the Father.

The belief that all religions are fine because everyone is trying to reach the same destination is a false teaching, which is calling God a liar. When God says something as final as that statement, there is not much left to argue with, Jesus is the way to God and there are no other paths to take. All we can do is accept His way and find the life He promised, which is the narrow road that leads to life, or take the broad road that leads to death, another statement Jesus made in Matthew 7:13-14. The question to be asked is, "Is Jesus to be believed or the word of man who wants it his way?"
