Creating quality website content is dependent on several factors. If it is your own website, it matters not if the website exists to sell your product, sell your service or is simply an informational website ~ you must love whatever it is you do, and you must be an expert on what you do, or at the least, very knowledgeable.
If the website is not your own, and you are providing the website content for someone else, you need to learn their business and then become the expert.
Either way, providing credible quality content for a website requires you to be the expert.
How do you become the expert?
Research and ask questions. Never guess. Be willing to spend the time researching whatever the subject matter might be. Don't be afraid to go down several avenues to do thorough research.
This means if you are writing quality content on artwork, for example, learn about the artists, learn about their methods of creating the artwork, learn about the framing process, learn about matting.
If you are writing about a particular area of antiques, say vintage dinnerware, don't be afraid to do some serious research about that mark or stamp on the back of the dinnerware. Learn about the process of how the earthenware or pottery was made, the hand engraved images on it, the ink used.
Whatever your topic matter might be, ask questions. Participate in forums that specialize in the topic, and don't be afraid to ask questions. No question is stupid and if anyone makes you feel like your question was stupid, ignore them.
Why the determined approach to research and questions? Because research and questions lead to the acquisition of knowledge. Knowledge is power. You never can be too knowledgeable about any given topic yet without knowledge you are either perpetually guessing or just in the dark.
In order to write effective, credible quality content for a website, you need this knowledge on your given topic. Why? There will come a time when someone will question what you have written. They will either question it because they don't understand or disagree with what you have written, or because they want to learn more.
The fact that they question is good. It means your quality content was effective, it caught their attention. The credible part comes in because you are now the expert and should they not understand or disagree with you, you have the credible facts to back up your quality content. The expert part comes into play when they want to learn more, or recommend the website to others. You have become the expert because you did your research.
The rewards of this method are obvious. Thanks to your meticulous care in creating this quality website content, the work pays off in terms of more traffic, better search engine positioning, more sales and the respect of your website visitors.
