Personal transformation: The extreme makeover guide

To begin your extreme makeover, be committed, have lots of extra money or a benefactor. Then you need some quality time or a few weeks vacation. If willing to sacrifice your self, time and money here's the basic guide. Start at the top and go down.

Hair; do you need to add, take away, or update. Check out magazines; ask a salon professional, get a computer imagery or check with an implant doctor. Then go for it! A new coiffure is a great place to begin.

Face; the big bucks come into play. Face lifts and cosmetic surgery are costly, and risks are involved. Wrinkles removed around the lips for example, $5,000 or more. Botox is around $300 a shot. Keep in mind some treatments are not permanent.

Up date, change or transform your skin and face with better grooming and make up tricks. Sales professionals at department store make up counters or a reputable salon can assist. If you have acne or another skin problem see a doctor.

Eyes; get contacts instead of glasses or Lasik surgery. Permanent tattoo eyeliner and eyelash implants are also an option. You can change your eye color with contacts.

Teeth; dental work is very expensive, painful and time consuming. They make it look easy on TV. I have plenty of family members who have had jaw surgery, dentures, teeth pulled, bonding, veneers or the many whitening treatments available.

Insurance may cover some of the dental work if it's necessary and not cosmetic. Shop around and check with dental schools. Be prepared for weeks of recovery and years of adjustment especially with dentures. Over the counter whitening kits and tooth paste may help.

Body; another area TV makes look easy. If you can afford it, get a personal trainer, enroll at a gym, or what ever helps with your needed change. Bulk up or slim down, exercise is cheapest. Do a weight loss program. None of these are a quick fix.

You could call, the Beverly Hills surgeons. Again we are talking lots of cash, time for recovery and maybe a plane ticket. Vanity does have its price.

Or opt for better clothing and a more stylish look. This can be achieved with the help of a clothing fashion expert, watching related TV shows, reading magazines or finding a willing friend who's style you admire.

At most salons, you can get a facial, ex-foliation, unwanted hair removal, pedicure, manicure, massage, and support. Some salons have the latest and greatest, like body wraps that supposedly take off a few pounds.

You can always try to get on the show. Email them every day. Do what ever it takes to make them notice you. Acceptance is also an option.

That to me is the extreme part of this whole transformation idea. If you don't like yourself, then you make changes. Some will be easier than others and not cost any money. The best guide is to follow your heart, learn to walk with yourself and love the person you are.
