X-Files fans have been waiting six years for the return of their favorite characters, FBI Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully. After years of speculation, filming has begun on the X-Files Untitled Sequel.

You may remember The X-Files as the cult-hit show on the Fox Network which first aired in 1993. The show centered around Agent Mulder, the believer, and Agent Scully, the skeptic scientist. Their adventures in the paranormal left them believing more in aliens and government conspiracies. The consequences of their journey has left both of them without families. Mulder lost his sister to an alien abduction, his father to an assassin, and his mother to suicide. Scully lost her father to a heart attack, her biological daughter to a government conspiracy, and her sister to a bullet that was meant for herself. Mulder and Scully also gave up their only son to protect him from dangerous people. When the series ended, the agents, who had become more than friends, were on the run from the government, the military, and the alien supersoldiers.

The new movie, that will be released on July 25, 2008, will not be part of the mythology series. Chris Carter, series creator, has stated in an interview that the sequel will be a stand alone story that will not deal with the government conspiracy plot line. It will take place six years after the end of the series.

Fans all around the world have been speculating the possible storyline from set photos that have been leaked onto the internet. A fan would have no problem Google searching for X-Files 2 photos and videos. There are also sites created specifically for the upcoming movie with updates within hours of their releases. Fans were notified of Floyd Red Crow Westerman's death just a few hours after he was pronounced. Westerman played the reoccurring character Albert Hosteen in the series.

Some of the fans of the earlier seasons refuse to believe the series continued after the end of the seventh season when Mulder was abducted, and David Duchovny only appeared in about half of the episodes. Some did not appreciate the new characters Agent John Doggett and Agent Monica Reyes. Annabeth Gish, who plays Reyes, has said that she and Robert Patrick, Doggett, will not be appearing in the second X-Files movie. She continued to say that Chris Carter promised her that she would be in the third movie.

The sequel to the X-Files has many X-Philes, as the fans are called, excited to see how the characters have developed while the cameras weren't watching. Hopefully, the movie will live up the expectations, and a third movie will be green-lighted.
