HOW I KICKED MY WRITER"S BLOCK!
Writer's block! Those dreaded two words that are a nightmare for each and every writer! Whenever a writer thinks about it, beads of sweat appear on their forehead. They begin to hyper-ventilate, as if the end of the world is fast approaching them. Well, technically if a writer can't seem to write, their world has pretty much ended. It I such a scary concept that even when their thoughts are in full bloom, even when words seem to be flying on their paper or computer, even when everything seems to be going smooth in their world, the mere thought of writer's block paralyzes them. What if I get writer's block tomorrow? What if I cannot come up with anything for the rest of my lives? And in that paralysis, words suddenly disappear. They can't think! They can't write! They can't breathe!
Well, I've not entirely reached there yet! But, I seem to be fast approaching there! You see, its not that words or stories don't come to my mind, just that I don't feel the urge to write them down! I seem to have lost the will to write! I know it is temporary. I'm not hyper-ventilating again, not yet! So, I decided to take matters in my hands! I decided to kick my writer's block before it made its appearance anywhere in the ten-mile radius around me!
How did I do it? Well, I'm not done with doing it (please forgive my grammar). I'm still in the process of kicking it. First I had to come up with some brilliant story idea. What could I write about? Should it be outrageously funny, or outrageously sad or maybe just dark? Dark writing seems to be going around a lot nowadays, doesn't it? It immediately gets everybody's attention. People gasp at the intensity of a dark writing and go, "WOW! That was intense. How do you come up with such stories? How does your mind work?" Hey, if I ever knew how I wrote it, I'll write a book about it and give you some cool tips. Just make sure that you read it and spread the news amongst your friends, Okay?
Coming back to my dark story . I wrote or should I say attempted one of them. It revolved around a guy who's crazily in love with a girl and goes to extreme length to get her attention extreme means dark, as dark as it can get. But, what's happening? This story was meant to feel dark (haven't I been harping about that in my entire last paragraph?). So, why is it suddenly turning in to a comedy? The guy was supposed to look scary, not pathetic and sweet!
Well, apparently, my muse wanted me to write something funny. As
