Homemade cures for a hangover

during the day keep up the fluids until that sticky mouth and chapped lip feel is gone.

~Get Some Air ~

Lying in bed all day might seem like a good idea but remember, you are oxygen deficient. You would do well to open some windows or better yet, get outside in the shade. If it's hot and stuffy in the house you're only prolonging your agony.

~ Get Moving ~

The only way to increase the rate of alcohol excretion is through metabolism. Once you can walk straight put on a hat and sunglasses and get moving even if its a stroll around the block. People who workout regularly claim that their hangover symptoms are markedly decreased after they start their routines.

~ Get Real ~

If you've done something bad make apologies. Your apologies may not be accepted but they may humble you enough to watch your alcohol consumption in the future.

If you're a woman doing the walk of shame, you may want to think about how birth control was handled, if at all, and start considering what your next move will be.

If you're a man doing the walk of shame, don't try to make excuses or promises. If you're a really good guy, you could apologize for not getting to know this person, and offer to see what they are really like sober then take it from there.

For both sexes it's a no brainer, you'll need to know if protection was used.

~ Get Thinking About The Future ~

Now while I may have poked fun throughout this article because I know sooner or later many of us will at sometime have a hangover, I still want you all to stay safe. Here's a little advice for the future:

DO NOT- drive while intoxicated no matter how angry someone gets if you call home. If you can't call home, call a cab.

DO NOT- make yourself vulnerable by separating from your friends...leaving with strangers...or going off alone. I don't have to tell you the horrors that await.

DO NOT- leave a friend who is falling down drunk. They may have been slipped a date rape drug, or they may have alcohol poisoning. If they pass out you may want to consider getting help or you might lose that friend forever.

And yes it was said but, DO NOT take Tylenol or acetaminophen to treat or prevent a hangover headache. Alcohol decreases the body's ability to excrete acetaminophen. This means it can build up to toxic levels very quickly. Even underdoses of acetaminophen have been proven to cause liver failure and sudden death. Why take chances?

If you drink alcohol it's inevitable that one day you will suffer from a hangover, but realize that there are consequences to habitual and recreational drinking, so use good judgment and avoid bad luck.
