A horrid Hollywood trap that can destroy your life, drugs. An amazing actor, person, father and someone who died way before his time. He was a pure talent that got discovered by a casting director for Joel Schumacher when he was only ten years old. Brad Renfro first stepped into the movie scene with his amazing role in The Client with Susan Sarandon and Tommy Lee Jones. He was praised for his role in the movie and we saw a little star who shine was about to get brighter. Brad then starred in many other movies like The Cure, Bully, The Jacket and Ghost World. He was an amazing actor, acting in more than 20 films by the time he was 25. This is what happens when drugs and alcohol take over your life.
It was a very sad event when he died. He has had a problem with alcohol and substance abuse for some time now. He was arrested for DWI many times and also spent a little time in jail. He tried to steal a yacht while filming a movie, he also got busted on Skid Row for having heroin and methadone. He was very troubled and had legal issues for a period of time.
I feel like someone should have did something when Brad was getting into a lot of trouble. They should have had an intervention with him or his friends and family should have tried to talk some sense into him. He obviously was hanging out with others that drank and did drugs because one of his friends tried to steal the yacht with him.
It seems as if their is a curse of the child actors. Most celebrities that come into the entertainment industry early, suffer many problems when they become adults. Many child stars have died, most of them dying from drug over-dose. This seems to be the trend in Hollywood of the infamous child stars. I think that parents really need to be more involved when their child becomes a Hollywood star very early. The parents need to set boundaries and also still let their kids be kids. I believe that Hollywood children get a big head very early in this industry and it leads to self destruction. I think this is very sad what happened to Brad, but I wonder where are the positive influences in his life. Why didn't anyone try to have him enter rehab or any programs like that.
I am going to miss Brad however. He was a great actor already at 25, so I would have loved to see how he would have evolved when he got older. He was truly talented and truly great and I know that I will miss his work. I hope that his son grows up to know how talented his father truly was. This should be a wake up call for young hollywood, seeing all these stars dying from drug related issues.
